Oak primary class at Longdon Park School have been on a trip to Derby Museum and Art Gallery to get a hands-on archaeological experience and meet a Viking face to face! The class have also written their own reports about their trip!
“At the museum we held stuff and learned about what the Vikings did in war.”
“At the museum we explored sufff, made a Thor’s hammer and set up a Viking burial. I learned that Vikings took gold and that they went to England, Scotland and Derbyshire.”
“I learned that Vikings were good at war. I also made Thor’s Hammer. This would have been worn by Vikings to be lucky in war.”
Staff were super impressed with the behaviour shown on the trip and the engagement in all of the activities. The students also chose to stay and look around the rest of the museum and enjoyed seeing the Egyptian mummies and taxidermy animal display.
