Ski Trip 2026

A group of students from Longdon Park School recently took part in an OFG ski trip to the Italian Alps, where they all had an enjoyable and successful experience. The trip provided opportunities for each student to develop their skiing skills at their own level, ensuring that everyone could participate confidently and make progress.

Throughout the trip, all students demonstrated personal achievements. Success ranged from beginners who learned to ski and use the travelator lift, to more advanced skiers who were able to confidently tackle black runs. This wide range of ability highlights the inclusive nature of the trip and the support provided to each participant.

In addition to skiing, the group enjoyed several social activities that contributed to a positive and memorable experience. These included a pizza night, a bowling evening, and a town tour where students enjoyed ice cream together. These activities helped to build friendships and create a strong group atmosphere across multiple schools.

The students also took part in a presentation on the slopes, which allowed them to reflect on their experiences and share their progress and achievements.

Overall, the ski trip was a great success. All students had a good time, developed their skills, and created lasting memories both on and off the slopes.

Parent Feedback:

This trip has had a massive impact on James in terms of his confidence and belief in his ability. I know he struggled to begin with but with a bit of hard work and lots of encouragement from staff he pushed through enabling him to thoroughly enjoy the experience. The trip was well planned, well communicated and the staff were absolute superstars! James has even come back asking for a list of jobs he can be responsible for at home!! Miracle workers!

Kieren had an absolutely amazing time on the skiing trip, it challenged him to try new things and he discovered that when he tries new things not only is he good at them but he really enjoys them!! The trip has definitely broadened his horizons, given him new ideas of things he can do going forward.  He now wants to learn Italian and would love to revisit both pila and other parts of Italy. He has returned home with an appreciation of Italian culture and their more relaxed way of life and given him inspiration to be more active. The day he got back he decided he wanted to go and buy a skate board and learn how to do that! Learning to ski has given him more confidence in himself to try and succeed at new sports and activities. He had the time of his life. I am so happy he got to experience the whole trip with all the best people.

From a parents point of view we want to thank you, like last year it has been a wonderful growing experience for Jimmy, it helps him develop in so many ways; be more independent, confident and mature in positive ways. We really hope he gets to go next year and achieve his 3 award!

Regarding the trip what can I say! William was a little nervous this time round. He was confident with his skiing but was a bit unsure about being without you and Kayleigh when it was first mentioned. That didn’t stop him though and in no time he was off. His confidence has grown so much from the trip and can now see that with a bit of perseverance that he can not only achieve what he wants but he can go beyond that. The journey was tiring for everyone but I think even William will agree it was worth every second. He had been home only 2 hours when he announced ‘I’m tired and glad to be home – but I so want to be back there right now’

I would like to thank you personally for taking Ben on the ski trip and for taking such great care of him. A year ago I would never imagine he would have gone on any overnight trip, let alone for several nights and in Italy!! It was a massive thing for him and something he will remember for the rest of his life. Plus he even learned how to ski when before he had not ever had the opportunity. We are so proud he managed it, but realise he could not have done so without your help and the help of those of you on the trip.
