Students Shine on Diabetes Awareness Day

Last week, Longdon Park School came together in a wonderful display of unity and compassion, inspired by Year 8 student Irisa, who was diagnosed with diabetes shortly before joining the school last year. Although the journey hasn’t always been easy, Irisa has shown remarkable resilience and growing confidence in managing her condition. This year, she wanted to do something special to raise awareness—and she certainly did.

With the support of her class teacher, David, and the entire class team, Irisa led a vibrant Diabetes Awareness Day campaign. Posters were proudly displayed around the school, and staff and students were encouraged to wear blue, take part in lively Kahoot quizzes, and enjoy a delicious selection of baked treats.

The school community responded with enthusiasm, generosity, and plenty of team spirit. Thanks to Irisa’s initiative—and the help of her friends and classmates—the donations came pouring in, raising an outstanding £325 for diabetes awareness.

This incredible achievement is a testament not only to Irisa’s determination, but also to the kindness and support that define our school community.

Well done, Irisa—you’ve made us all proud! 💙
