Home News & Events Ski Trip to Pila, Italy
Saturday 8th March midday all staff and students of Longdon Park School met up at school to embark on a 20 hour coach journey to the Aosta Valley, Italy. Spirits were high with students excited about the coming days.
Monday, we were up early for some breakfast before heading to the gondola station to go up the mountain. At the top we met our instructor for the week (Emilia). All students started on baby Pila where we looked at the basics of skiing. After a full day off skiing, we headed into the Aosta town for some ice cream.
With a good understanding of the skiing life we took to the mountains for a second day. It was clear to see students were determined to put the skills they had learnt to the test. Tuesday’s work was well rewarded with some bowling and table tennis. Seeing all the schools come together was amazing. Team morale was high after day 2!
Day 3 showed that all the boys that could ski and the hard work they had been putting in had been worth it.
Thursday arrived with bright blue skies and fresh snow. Thursday morning belonged to Jenson who completed his first slope top to bottom independently. He did a fantastic job. All students were ready to face the ski lift and move on up the mountain.
On the last day The Grange School and Longdon Park School came together and enjoyed the snow before heading down the mountains for a quick lunch and shower ready for departure.
The 2025 Ski trip was a massive success. To see our students engage in so many independent tasks and face new challenges and environments with courage and bravery was an absolute pleasure.
