Tree Circle of Life

We had a tree fall onsite rather spectacularly which meant it had to be taken down. Rather than see this beautiful tree go to waste our new Forest School lead Alison wanted to breathe new life into it and had a wonderful idea to turn the trunk into a speaking circle feature for our students to use as an outdoor classroom area.

A tree surgeon was called to site and the tree was first cut into blocks which could then be later turned into stumps for sitting on. Alison did some research and found a local company Urban Canopy – Property & Grounds Maintenance based in Willington who kindly agreed to come and install the circle using the remaining money from the Eco Garden funds which Alison secured last year for the school. As you can see it was a great challenge involving chainsaws, drilling, and a lot of manpower. The result is a beautiful tribute to the trees life and will serve as a great space for students to use in the Forest School area which is evolving all the time.
