6th March 2023

World Book Day

This year’s world book day on 2nd March was celebrated in style at Longdon Park School.

Staff made a co-ordinated effort to dress up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs complete with Evil Queen’s and we were also lucky enough to have a visit from author and blogger Chris Bonello.

Chris came into school to promote a love of reading and writing to our students.  Chris held a creative writing workshop with some of our students in the morning and then spent time chatting with some of our older students in the afternoon about his work.

Chris has written a series of books the first in the series titled Underdogs a near-future war series featuring autistic and otherwise neurodiverse heroes.  More information about Chris can be found in his blog: https://autisticnotweird.com/

As well as dressing up and visiting authors all students were given the opportunity to visit a local bookstore and purchase a book of their choice and in a move to improve whole school literacy the school library which was originally housed in the pavilion (an outdoor building) was re-housed during half term and brought into the main school building making it more accessible to all students.
