VIRTUAL REALITY OPENS UP A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF LEARNING

Recently we invested in Virtual Reality headsets to support pupil learning.

Virtual reality is a great tool to give students a fresh perspective and real-life experience of the thing they are studying without even being directly there.

The headsets can be used in many lessons.  Primary have been using them in English lessons to bring books to life.  The pupils have been putting themselves in the shoes of the story characters to share their journey and experiences first-hand.  This week they have visited the candy house in Hansel and Gretel and climbed the beanstalk in Jack and The Beanstalk.

The headsets provide students with opportunities to explore places they might never have the opportunity to visit as well as places that really are truly out of this world, such as the international space station!

The students are loving the headsets.  They much prefer to explore the virtual reality worlds over looking at still images, lessons come to life capturing their imagination, embedding their learning.  They also offer therapeutic opportunities as children can access sensory rooms and relaxation activities, definitely a win, win for pupils.
